Schleiss Double House

Domicile and workshop of the ceramist family Schleiss
in 1903 the Gmundner Ceramic's Manufakturer was founded here

The Schleiss double house is in some ways the heart of the ceramic-city Gmunden, having been domicile and workshop of the Schleiss family. Not only have the largely appreciated potters of Gmunden worked here but so have art-nouveau-artists from Vienna workshops such as Michael Powolny and Dagobert Peche or later Franz von Zülow. Their employers, Franz and Emilie Schleiss, later on founded the Gmunden ceramics manufacturer.
