Starting at the beginning of Seestraße towards the centre, you get your first beautiful view of the Lake Hallstatt and the traditional houses in Hallstatt.
The marketplace in Hallstatt is certainly famous, as it was also recreated in Asia, more precisely in China in the province of Guangdong. But ending the tour of Hallstatt there would be a mistake. Archaeology on the Salzberg
A must-do in Hallstatt is definitely the drive or hike up the Salzberg. There you will find archaeological finds from the Hallstatt period as well as the oldest salt mine in the world.
A little more courage is required on the Skywalk and the World Heritage View viewing platform, which is made entirely of glass and hovers 200 metres above Hallstatt. From here, you have a breathtaking view of the Hallstatt-Dachstein/Salzkammergut World Heritage region and Lake Hallstatt in the centre.
