St. Georgen im Attergau - the vibrante centre of the Attergau region

St. Georgen scores a lot of points for diversity: a diversity of shops, numerous restaurants and cosy inns make for a vibrant centre. Cultural events ensure a very special atmosphere in the town. For more than 40 Jahre years, St. Georgen was the home of the great musician, director and humanist Nikolaus Harnoncourt. Since May 2017, the Nikolaus Harnoncourt Tage music festival honour St. Georgen’s famous resident every year.

Around 15th August, the RACE AROUND AUSTRIA converts the small town into the centre of international ultra-cycling, attracting around 5,000 spectators. In combination with the Attergauer Marktfest (village fair), this event is one of the highlights of the region.
