Salzstadeln

Stadl-Paura, Oberösterreich, Österreich
  • Suitable for groups

Salt shipping on the River Traun has been closely associated with Stadl-Paura since 1311. The Salzstadeln were an important part of the transshipment of the "white gold" from the Salzkammergut, and the name of the town emphasises its special significance.

The last historic barns were demolished by the Stern & Hafferl company in 1916.
After almost 100 years, the new barns now stand in their historic location. On the one hand, they serve as a boathouse, and on the other, they are used for cultural life in Stadl-Paura and the surrounding area.
The "Salztrauner", a typical 23-metre-long trout boat, is also moored here.
