Trachtenmusikkapelle Faistenau

The TMK Faistenau was founded in 1877 and as of January 2025 has a total of 72 active members and 4 honorary members.

The active members are made up of 31 female musicians, 5 marketenderinnen and 38 male musicians, with an average age of 36, which means that everyone from schoolchildren to veterans is represented in our band. Our band consists of brass instruments (trumpet, horn, flugelhorn, tenor horn/baritone, bass and trombone), woodwind instruments (clarinet, flute, oboe and saxophone) and percussion instruments (drums).

The musical highlights of our year are our spring concert at the end of March/beginning of April and our Brass Band Day in August, as well as providing music for church festivals, morning pints in the village, music festivals and outings with local clubs. During the summer months we perform our tourist concerts at various locations in Faistenau. In addition, every 3 years the traditional Jedermann takes place in Faistenau, where we give a concert on Fridays and Saturdays from the beginning of July to the middle of August.

We have a wide repertoire ranging from traditional Austrian brass band and marching music to classical music and modern film and pop music. For the past 7 years we have also had our own youth brass band, where young musicians can gain their first orchestral experience with the support of experienced musicians from the band.

We, the Trachtenmusikkapelle Faistenau, fulfil not only a great musical performance, but also an important social mission in our community of Faistenau. The integration of our members into the community of a music band is an important experience of camaraderie, interaction with each other, the development of common musical goals and also promotes social thinking, especially for adolescents.
