How to get to Scharnstein in the Traunsee-Almtal region!
We recommend travelling by public transport!
by train: from Wels railway station, take the Almtalbahn (line 153) in the direction of Grünau im Almtal to the Scharnstein-Mühldorf stop;
further stops in the local area: Viechtwang, Kothmühle, Traxenbichl
Numerous connections from Wels railway station to the main trains on the Westbahn line (line 101) in the direction of Salzburg or Linz/Vienna or to Passau (D) on the Passauerbahn (line 150).
By bus:
OÖVV bus route 480 Kirchdorf/Kr. (- Schlierbach) - Pettenbach - Scharnstein
OÖVV bus route 533/534 Gmunden - St. Konrad - Scharnstein - Grünau im Almtal - Almsee
OÖVV bus route 535 Oberweis - Gmunden - St. Konrad - Viechtwang
Bike & Hike, travelling by bike:
Coming from Wels or Linz on the R 4 Traunradweg or R6 Römerradweg, or from Passau via Vöcklabruck and Schwanenstadt on the R 6 Römerradweg to Lambach, via the Traunkraftwerk Lambach and then in the direction of Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting via Vorchdorf to Pettenbach on the R13 or R11.
Also via the cycle connection of the R 11 Almtalradweg from Almsee via Grünau im Almtal or from Wels via Pettenbach to Scharnstein.
On the Traunvierteltour - stage 2 from Schlierbach to Gmunden am Traunsee.
