A young, talented duo that successfully attempts to redefine the sound of folk music and ignites a rousing musical firework display in the process. The Styrian duo Tubonika is looking for something different and finds happiness in combining the old with the new. What the two young musicians Jonny Kölbl (harmonica) and Tobias Weiß (tuba) do is make a respectful break with tradition. They move folk music into the present day, opening it up musically and crossing it with elements of other musical forms and styles as if there were nothing more natural. Jazz, classical music, world music and even pop can be heard in Tubonika's pieces. An unusual musical mixture that you simply have to join in with from the very first second.
